Profile:
One of the old reliables in the World Cup tournament with 10 appearances to date, the 'socceroos' are still seeking success following their defeat in the 1974 finals. Having beaten Uruguay to make it through to Germany in 2006, Australia have formed a much stronger team for this years competition. With coach Frank Farina being replaced by Guus Hiddink and players such as Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell, Brett Emerton and Mark Schwarzer set to line up for their National team, they could make it through quite a number of stages within the competition and go a lot further than their recent efforts. Australia are constantly in the competition but will this be the year they make it more than a regular outing and achieve more notable success?
