| Switzerland have always been considered a relatively strong International team but have also obtained a reputation for never making it through to the final games within numerous competitions. The Swiss team have qualified for 7 World Cup competitions to date achieving their most success in reaching the quarter finals on occasions. Mural and Hakan Yakin, Johann Vogel and Raphael Wicky are providing the backbone of the team in 2006 and hoping to achieve their continually unfulfilled dream of bringing the World Cup title home. Considering Switzerland are joint hosting the 2008 European Championship, this gives them an added reason to give the 2006 games their best shot.
